A Brief History of Iron Cross

Iron Cross Skateboards started in 1989 when the Godoys joined forces after riding for H-Street and Circle-A skateboards. The company ended at a time when street skating made vertical skateboarding and it's riders obsolete. The year 2009, 20 years later, brought with it a renewed demand for larger shapes and a punk rock image. This is what influenced the company in 1989. The decks offered now are highly functional shapes for transition riding and cruising in general. The punk rock models offered are the Radio Birdman and the Vibrators decks along with the pointed and dangerous Shaver model.

We will soon be offering a Godoy Twins deck, a Jimmy Finley model and a Matt "Weezil" Kline model as well as a Sham 69 model.

Iron Cross - Skateboarding Tattooing and Punk Rock

The above footage of the Vibrators Detroit gig on the September 2010 U.S. tour. Though the gig wasn't totally full, the energy of the audience was great. Detroit is a history of producing some of the most influential bands in history. The MC5, the Stooges, Sonic's Rendezvous band and more... the trickle down effect led to other greats like Destroy All Monsters and of course Australia's legendary Radio Birdman.  Radio Birdman was Australia's answer to the Sex Pistols. Most claim the Saints to be the Australian Sex Pistols but only because the tentacles of their fame reached farther than those of Radio Birdman. Radio Birdman's fame remained cultish yet despite this fact, their fans are totally devoted to them. We are proud to have the license to produce the Radio Birdman skateboard deck. They have been a great influence on us and our music as well as producing the soundtrack to a big portion of our lives. The energy of the music pushed us to push our limits... to the point of near injury!! We have played with Deniz Tek in the Deniz Tek Group (U.S. version), the Visitors reunion, and in The Last of the Bad Men.

We grew up on punk rock... 77 punk to be exact. We would lay around in our room listening to our collection of punk records which would come across the sea from England to New York, to Philadelphia and then down to us in Lancaster PA... one of our favorites was the Vibrators release "Pure Mania". The hits on this record are the whole record itself. Now decades later, we have played as members of one of our favorite bands!!

A documentary by a friend "Paco"... skateboarding in Mexico. It has a history, a real history that goes back to the 70's. It has barely been documented... until now. We are proud to have been part of it.
